My Formula for Success
I distinctly found myself in that position once I graduated college. My formula for success more or less looked something like this:
- Graduate college and find a job
- ?
- PROFIT
The emphasis, of course, was on steps 1 and 3. Nowhere did it include all of the other things I wanted to do (vacation, exercise, church, etc.). Don’t get me wrong, they were all important, but only now am I starting to realize that success is more than just financial. Many people have lots of money, but there’s always a trade-off for anything you have or do. Many of those same people have personal, family, or character issues that keep them from truly being happy.
My formula for success is now as follows:
- Glorify God
- Achieve Balance
- Remain Satisfied
If I were to place an emphasis on my components above, I would place it on the former, and the latter two would share an equal priority. I feel that if I follow this formula, and stick to it as much as possible, that success will assuredly follow.
And here’s where faith, motivation and perseverance comes into play. I have to believe, no matter what I see in front of me and no matter how impossible things seem, that my efforts will pay off. I have to will myself to stay motivated, even when my morale is low. I have to endure all of the failures that will inevitably come with success. And most importantly, I must keep humble and happy whit where I am at all times.
Yeah, this is all easier said than done, but how am I going to do this? By keeping my eyes on the prize. I’ve come way too far to give up on success. I will have to exercise every bit of the patience and restraint that I have to make it. And when times get really rough and I don’t see any way through, I’ll just have to give it to God and have my Divine Creator direct my path. I think I have all the pieces; I just need to figure out how to put them all together.
Oh yeah. I can almost taste my success.
