No Sacrifice, No Success

no-sacrifice-no-success

“In order to continually succeed in life, you must be willing to do the things others do not normally do.”

Andrew McDonald

Without sacrifice, there can be no success. It’s true that sacrifice can be painful but ultimately the sacrifices that you make only help to serve to make you a better person and push you closer towards success. What you will find in your journey towards success is that most people want to gain success BUT they don’t want to take part in making sacrifices necessary to obtain that success.

However, it’s important to remember that greatness lies on the other side of making sacrifices.

This year I had to make a huge sacrifice…

I’d just accepted a permanent IT position at a global home improvement retailer. This was my dream job! The company is known for superior employee relations, benefits were competitive and my team would be amazing. Easily, I could see myself retiring from this company. The week I started I was offered a contract opportunity at another company that offered more flexibility, more opportunities for growth, and better pay.  The permanent position improved my career opportunities while the contract position would improve my entrepreneurship opportunities. What was a person to do?

Ultimately, I ended up taking the contract position. I knew that my business ambitions were more important than my corporate career.

It wasn’t easy to have to tell the people that I’d made such a great impression on that I was leaving. I had to say “no” to the job of my dreams and in a sense, let my team down BUT I knew my decision was best for me and my business.

Sacrifice is not easy

If making decisions and gaining success was easy then guess what? We’d all be wildly successful and living our lives to the fullest. Making sacrifices will cause discomfort and even pain at times. There will be times when the sacrifices that you have to make will cause others discomfort. Be prepared because most of the people around you (no matter how much you root for them and want them to be successful) will take every step to avoid everything that comes with sacrifice.

What sacrifices are you willing to make to master success in your life?
